Dear Jeyamohan,

Today I read your another short story, Matthuru, about
the Professor and his Guru Kottaatu Kumara Pillai, Kumar, Rajam, and others.

You are expressing the feelings of humans who are
honest. Simply great. The characters see and go beyond the boundaries
set up by ordinary humans. I could not stop shedding tears many times.

Almost thirty five years ago, I had been blessed by a teacher
like Kumara Pillai. The scene is almost similar in many aspects.
Just like Kumara Pillai, my teacher also gave me food and studies.
I almost had similar experiences, as you narrated in your story,
with the wife of my teacher. They were so happy to see me as their
son. And extremely happy to see me become a scientist, after
finishing Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
Now I live in Canada. My teacher’s name is Prof S.Jeyamony,
and his wife name is Mrs Sebastiyayee. They were not rich.
They were like Kottaaru Kumara Pillai and Kettle Sahib.

I have thought many many times like what you have written above in
the last thirty five years.

அறம் சிறுகதை எழுத்தாளர் எம்.வி.வெங்கட்ராம் அவர்களை பற்றியது என்று நினைக்கிறேன். சாதாரணமாக ஒருவரின் வாழ்வை படித்துவிட்டு நாம் கடந்துவிடுகிறோம். ஆனால் அந்த வாழ்க்கை எத்தனை வருடங்கள் , மாதங்கள் , நாட்களால் ஆனது. எவ்வளவு வலி.ஆனால் ஒன்று.எதிர்மறையாக என்று இல்லை.சோற்றுக்கணக்கும் சரி , அறம் சிறுகதையும் சரி முன்வைக்கும் விழுமியங்களுக்கு இன்றைய அமைப்புக்குள் இடம் உண்டா என்றால் எனக்கு இல்லை என்றுதான் தோன்றுகிறது. நாம் வாழ்வது sublimation உலகத்தில் அல்ல.மாறாக Repressive Desublimation உலகில். இன்றைய நிலையில் இந்த விழுமியங்கள் நாம் வாழும் நவீன சமூக அமைப்புக்கு வெளியே இருப்பதாகத்தான் எனக்குப்படுகிறது.

சற்றுமுன் தங்கராஜ் என்பவர் அவரது வாழ்க்கையில் அவரறிந்த குருவின் சான்னித்தியம் பற்றி எழுதிய கடிதத்தை வாசித்தேன்

இந்த தளத்தின் வாசகர்கடிதங்களில் வெவ்வேறு மனிதர்கள் வெவ்வேறு கெத்தேல்சாகிபுகளைப்பற்றி, குமாரபிள்ளைகள் பற்றி கண்ணீர்மல்க எழுதியிருப்பதை காணமுடியும்.

ஏதோ ஒருகருணையால் அள்ளி தரப்பட்ட உணவை உண்ணாமல் யாரும் உருவானதில்லை. ஆனால் பலசமயம் நம் மனவறட்சியினால் நாம் அதை உணர்வதில்லை. உணராமையினால் நாம் யாருக்கும் ஏதும் அளிப்பதுமில்லை. இக்கதைகள் அந்தக்கருணையை அடிக்கோடிடுகின்றன
